Welcome to Grumpy old geeks, I'm Jason DeFilippo. And I'm Brian Schultmeister. A couple quick

notes before we get into it. First off, since we've started this new at night recording thing,

this is the first time my wife is out having dinner with friends, so I was in charge of kid

and kid is theoretically asleep, but there could be kid walking through at some point.

Okay. Just saying. So we'll see. And secondly, right before we started, I was scrolling through the

IG as the old people do. And I saw Shirley Manson posted a great meme just a few minutes ago,

and an honor of our show in general, because I think it encapsulates that. But in particular,

many of the upcoming stories we're about to talk about and some of the big stories that we won't

be talking about today. I should read the quote that she posted. Don't be the bigger person today.

Be the person that helps them understand that sometimes when you fuck around, you find out.

Good quote. Good quote. And let's roll. All right. Well, I don't know if you would like some eggs with

this next story, because of course, the 10,000 steps is back in the news. We have a new study now.

Mm hmm. It says taking 8,600 steps a day will prevent weight gain in adults while already overweight

adults can have their odds of becoming obese by adding an additional 2400 steps. That's 11,000

for people who can't add. According to new research, there's new studies out.

This should be pointed out again that the initial number of the 10,000 was a marketing gimmick

out of Japan to sell shoes. It never had any science behind it whatsoever.

No. So we've known that. But every time there's a new study about this, I like to bring it up,

because it's not saying in the CNN version of the study here, male, female, body type,

you know, they're just saying 8,600 steps for an adult. Kind of a broad range when it gets

...
