Summary

573 Rick Koscher TheGolfBetterCoach.com> gets frustrated with golfers and students who complain about inconsistency when they don’t actually understand how to make “golf shots”. He says “You cannot become a scratch golfer by staying on the driving range”. How many distances and locations can you hit a 7 iron? Most of us will say “about 150 yards”, but to be the best golfer possible, try to focus on hitting that club multiple distances, with a variety of ball flights.  If you’re serious about lowering your scores, be creative, use your imagination, and practice on your weaknesses. Instead of buying golf clubs that are popular or new, Rick suggests getting fitted to clubs that "fit your swing".For exclusive content and first access check out Corrected Mistakes on Substack: https://substack.com/@correctedmistake  Learn more about your ad choices. me we're all trying to learn to golf better we are all trying to learn golf better and you have an

0:45.9

interesting method of teaching uh and an approach that is all about ball flight not not necessarily your swing, correct?

0:55.9

You know, that's correct.

0:57.6

And one of the reasons I kind of developed this was I try to change people's paradigm on what

1:02.2

they're really thinking about instead of trying to make that perfect swing.

1:07.0

Okay.

1:07.5

Now, what is your typical shot that you're trying to hit from 60 yards of an end?

1:13.2

I try to avoid it, first of all. Okay. Because where I think I could hit my lob wedge 50 yards,

1:21.0

I'm, I'm not. Lots of times I'll skull it or even 10 yards in and freaks me out.

1:30.9

Like if I play strategically, especially on a par five, or even like on these 400-yard par-fours,

1:38.9

what I try to do is get myself to 125-yard shot.

1:43.2

Then to me it's, you know, or 110. 110, give me my

1:48.6

pitching wedge, 125, give me my 9-iron. I am so confident when I grab my club. I feel great.

1:55.3

But if I'm at 40 yards, right, because I'm on a par 5, and for some stupid reason, I just wanted to hit my three wood on my second shot, and I'm at 40 yards, right? Because I'm on a par five and for some stupid reason I just wanted to hit my three wood on my second shot. And I'm at 40 yards or 30 yards. My knees are shaken when I grab my wedge because I'm afraid that I'm going to skull it or that I'm going to top it or that it's just going to just fly and not float.

2:17.2

Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

2:18.0

Mm-hmm.

2:22.7

And is that primarily your lob wedge you have that problem with?
