Can we talk about something else?

Out there.

From time to time in a romantic relationship, things can get a little stale.

The spark gets extinguished by familiarity, then complacency, then stagnation.

And with stagnation comes the distractions, work, kids, individual pursuits.

And in this stagnant state, the relationship is, uh, for grabs.

I'm an host to the couple.

Any relationship that has become apathetic to itself,

routine, empty, is in danger of being destroyed by an outsider,

willing to fill the void.

And it's not their fault, it's not your partners fault, it's not your fault.

It's just the way love works. Love, between lovers, needs tending to.

And in understanding this, it's not love's fault, either,

when an affair sprouts up like a beautiful weed.

Love is hungry, love is deserving, and love, as they say, will find a way.

And that's nice, but also love is selfish, love is blind, love is a thief.

And when all else fails, it is far from beneath love to kill.

Well, those of us who think we know love will argue that I'm speaking of passion,

and that passion is not love, that I'm speaking of infatuation.

I've empty trists, and that love is more than the ugliness I'm associating it with.
