Jeff Sandi talks about why he volunteered for a very dangerous mission in Iraq.

My father landed at Utah Beach on D day, 277 straight days of combat, only a couple dozen

of his unit that started, landed at Utah Beach, was alive at the end of the war.

And no matter what they threw at me, it was my patriotic duty to my country and to use

the expertise that I had learned to try to do something to help our country.

And let me tell you another piece of why I volunteered.

While we're very fortunate in West Virginia, we have a wonderful National Guard.

And we are, we provide training for countries all over the world.

And because of our, the strip mining, coal mining operations, you have vast amount of

property there, which has been reclaimed, the rivers for swift water rescue.

It's just this past year, we had a national exercise here, which military from over the

United States, which my office, the Department of Homeland Security was involved.

It's just there's so many, West Virginia's got such a wide area of wilderness and

property and rivers and, and former coal mines and stuff.

It's a wonderful place to train, you know, I've talked to some guys allegedly that may

have been out in that area, but it's like, yeah, just fabulous, fabulous stuff out there.
