Summary

Even an extremely positive person like Rob is susceptible to negative thoughts creeping in. So, a while back, he began to focus more on identifying when such a thought entered his consciousness. He did not allow them to take hold of his emotions, but rather began to ask why. Began to evaluate the possible reasons for having each thought. The conclusion he eventually reached was that he was more prone to negative thinking when he was feeling overwhelmed. By using the core functions of the Machine Mindset to find balance within the factors of time, energy and capacity, he was able to, not thwart negative thoughts from creeping in entirely, but build the skill of identifying and dealing with them before they can affect him. In this episode, he talks through how you can do the same.

Welcome to Build with Rob. It is Rob Deirdek. Here to tell you that living a life with virtually

0:09.7

no negative thoughts is possible. And I know what you're saying like, oh, come on, that's not

0:16.8

possible. That's not even like a thing. And I'll tell you something, I was, you know,

0:22.4

really kind of sharing my system and how I have used qualitative data to ask myself how I

0:28.6

felt about life, work, and health. And it revealed all these things that led me to basically

0:35.1

eliminate all different negative aspects of my life.

0:38.3

I was sharing this with somebody in the spring of 2021 a year ago.

0:44.3

And I basically said I had no negative thoughts.

0:48.6

And that somehow ended up into like a document of when I would do press and he virtually has no negative thoughts

0:56.4

and I was a little sheepish about that you know what I mean because I was like man that's bold

1:02.9

that's bold and that's not entirely true I thought to myself you know like like sometimes I

1:07.9

get to this place where I do think about certain things in sort of a negative

1:13.9

way and it really started making me think about what negative thoughts that I do have because

1:21.8

they were they had become incredibly rare but it really made me start thinking about the negative

1:27.3

thoughts that I had

1:28.6

and where were they coming from? Where were they coming from and why did they happen? Like it's almost like

1:36.1

I began to have a negative thought, then stop and evaluate it so I could understand what even

1:42.5

led to that negative thought in the first place,

1:45.2

right? And for me in that time, it was incredibly eye-opening and it really was when I finally

1:52.5

discovered a couple of the key things that are instrumental in sort of the machine mindset philosophy as it relates to mastering time,

2:03.8

energy, and capacity and controlling your mind share, right? Because I'm, I realize that

2:10.9

for the most part, like, I would only be negative like when I was overwhelmed, right? And like anytime I got overwhelmed, right?
