Today, a book that is a listener request and this listener, her name is Amanda and she recommended that I should read a wonder book by Nathaniel Hawthorne since I've been kind of on a Hawthorne kick lately.

And as soon as I walked into a local library, you're in Vermont. There it was just sitting on a shelf kind of staring right out at me with this beautiful cover to an older book.

It looks like it's from the 70s. Looking at it's copyright in 1968. It's a really beautiful little book. One of those ones that you can carry around in your back pocket if you wanted to.

And I've never read it. But as a great title, sounds like something you want to go to sleep too. So tonight we're going to continue our Nathaniel Hawthorne train with a wonder book.

Ah, those were such apples as would bring a great price by the bushel if any of them could be found growing in the orchards of nowadays.

But there is not. I suppose a graft with that wonderful fruit on a single tree in the wide world. Not so much as a seed of those apples exist any longer.

And even in the old half forgotten times before the garden of disparities was overrun with weeds. A great many people doubted whether there could be real trees that bore apples of solid gold upon their branches.
