Summary

As you know by now, Krista is someone who loves to push the limits of what’s possible, to expand her own lived experience and learn new ways of seeing or thinking about things. She travels this path (mostly) unafraid and open-minded. But the prospect of a darkness retreat, she admits, was a scary one. In this special solo episode, Krista recaps her three-day, four-night darkness retreat at Sky Cave Retreats in Oregon and recounts the deep spiritual and emotional lessons she’s taken away from it.  There was rage, sadness, and grief; great joy and hours of bodywork; daily peanut butter and jelly sandwiches – and of course, complete and utter darkness. You don’t want to miss this. We also talk about: What is a darkness retreat? Setting her intentions Patience with bodywork (5+ hrs/day) Waves of rage, grief, and sadness  Logistics, food, and environment Sleeping and how to determine time Letting it rip on Day 1 The peace of Day 2 Emotional release on Day 3 Taking the goggles off  Integration and lessons learned  Resources: Read: The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk Sky Cave Retreats: @skycaveretreats Website: skycaveretreats.com Join our community: almost30.com/membership facebook.com/Almost30podcast/groups Podcast disclaimer can be found by visiting: almost30.com/disclaimer.  Find more to love at almost30.com! the show and community to support ourselves and then hopefully support you all in the process.

0:57.9

so I just recently did a darkness or dream. So if you don't know me, it might not be as like

1:07.4

helpful because you might not understand sort of how I work and how I move in the world, but I'm

1:11.7

someone that loves to try things. I'm someone that is an explorer on earth, star seed, alien being,

1:19.4

and just really loves to see what is possible for me, what is possible for others and really how I

1:25.8

can grow. I am someone that is deeply interested in growth. I'm deeply interested in knowing myself

1:32.9

in the deepest way and I'm not afraid of a lot of things. This one, the darkness or dream, I have

1:37.8

to say I was afraid. So I've done I wasca experiences in the past, I've done group therapy experiences

1:45.7

in the past, I've done vipocenas, I've backpacked in Patagonia for over a month, you know, in a canoe,

1:52.9

I've just, I've done some things, but this one was truly the scariest for me because it feels like

2:01.4

it's the most psychological. So I just got back yesterday, so I'm super raw and juicy and open.

2:08.6

I have not stopped crying. I am really, really tender. I'm really, really tender. The episode
