So when we do these podcasts, I've had this habit of bringing in something that's significant or meaningful or historical.

And I have in my hands a letter that I wrote to Llewela's parents on the occasion of me being hired for my first ministry position.

This was written in September of 1971.

The reason it's a letter is, sorry, this is how old I am, there were no computers and there

were no cell phones.

And it is a really sweet, detailed description of this first opportunity of pastoral ministry

And I look at my job description here and think only but God's grace would a 20-year-old ever be able to do this.

But it brought back just wonderful memories and sort of caused me to walk down through
