South Carolina in June, about three weeks from today, actually. Wednesday, June 11th in Jacksonville

Beach, Florida, with myself and Chaz Smith hosting Longboard, world longboard champ, Justin Quintall,

will be our guest at the Blue J

listening room.

And then the following night, Thursday, June 12th, again, Chaz and I at Head High Studios

in Charleston, South Carolina, with guests Cam Richards and his father,

shaper of perfection surfboards and owner of the village surf shop, Kelly Richards.

Cannot wait. The 1970 is the year that professional surfing went on world tour.

What is now known as the WSL was originally founded as the IPS, International Professional

Surfers, and today's guest was one of six women who went on that first tour.

It consisted of seven events, three in South Africa, one in Brazil,

and three in Hawaii. Jericho Poplar accumulated the most points that year on that tour,

but she was not deemed the champion. In fact, no one was inexplicably. It's a larger conversation

that we will attempt to unpack here today.
