I'm in Los Angeles. I have a bit of a cold. I don't know if you can hear it in my voice. I'm a bit congested. I could sneeze at any

moment. But otherwise I'm feeling good. I have John Ray on the program. He is a Whiting Award

winner. He's won of Guggenheim. He's published many critically acclaimed works of fiction.

His latest novel is called God Send. It's available from Farrar, Strauss, and Giroux, and we had a great time talking.

He came over on a Friday evening.
