Summary
Do you make time to appreciate the very things you once prayed for? Sometimes, chasing the next thing can cause you to miss out on the moments that were once out of reach.
In this episode, I uncover the gift in letting go of busyness and embracing stillness. Burnout may be your norm now, but it doesn’t have to stay that way. I can’t wait for you to take back your time by slowing down.
And even if it takes longer to reach your destination, you’ll enjoy the journey along the way.

| 0:00.0 | Hi there. Thanks for listening to the Sister Circle podcast. |
| 0:07.1 | My name is Crystal Evanshurst, and I'm your host. Thanks for tuning in to another episode of the podcast that's designed to help you live your life well and to make it a life you love. Listen, you get to choose. Have you ever said to yourself, |
| 0:30.7 | I just don't have enough hours in the day? Have you ever felt like the year has gone by, |
| 0:35.6 | the month has gone by, the quarter has gone by, and what have I done with it? Well, the key to doing better and living a fuller life is not always about doing more faster. Sometimes it's about doing less better. And we're going to talk about that today. Y'all, sometimes in my life, my weeks look like a CVS receipt. Y'all know what a CVS receipt is like? It just keeps going and going and going and going to get the receipt for what you were supposed to do, but then they add all of these coupons on the end of it. It's like complete waste of paper and lack of responsibility when it comes to the woods in the world. The CVS receipt doesn't end. And sometimes my to-do list feels that way. And I'm doing all of the right things. I'm serving. I'm working. I'm showing up. But often when I look at my life or pay attention to how I feel about my life, I'm just weary thinking about it. Now I'm a high energy, high capacity person. I can do a lot. I can do a lot fast. And I can carry a lot. And I'm built that way. But that does not mean that I am not |
| 1:29.0 | soulfully weary if I'm not doing enough of the things that actually matter and that make me feel |
| 1:34.3 | full and that I am engaging with my life in a very full way. You can be living life well. Check |
| 1:39.9 | everything off your to do list and still have an empty soul. In our world, busyness is like a |
| 1:45.6 | badge of honor. And I'm not going to lie, I wear it like a badge of honor, all the things that I'm |
| 1:49.4 | able to get done. But I have also learned that the busyness that I often operate with robs me of |
| 1:55.4 | something else. And that's enjoying the life that I have. It's not possible to drive down the freeway at 85, 90 miles an hour |
| 2:03.7 | and enjoy the scenery. If you're on the auto bond, you're going to get there fast, but will you |
| 2:08.0 | actually enjoy the journey? And sometimes we realize too late in life that we did all the things, |
| 2:13.9 | but we didn't enjoy the things we did. And in order to do that, you have to choose |
| 2:18.1 | to live differently. Busy is not the same as truly being productive and enjoying your life is not |
| 2:23.1 | the same as checking everything off your list. What if our need to do more or the pressure that we |
| 2:29.1 | feel to do more is actually costing us what matters most. So in order to break busy, there are some things that we can keep in mind that we can do and some things that we need to be aware of. God has his best in mind for you. Psalm 4610 says, be still and know that I am God. How are you supposed to know God? How are you supposed to know him? And in knowing him, know what he wants you to do with your life, you have to be still. Stillness needs to be a part of your life. I love the paraphrase from the message version. It says, step out of the traffic. Take a long, loving look at me, your high God. Now, many of us, when we go somewhere nowadays, you know, I used to have a big, thick mat in my car, I'd have one folded up of the United States in my |
| 3:07.7 | glove compartment and one folded up of the great country of Texas in my glove compartment. |
| 3:12.2 | I don't need that anymore because I've got Google Maps, Apple Maps, Google is better than Apple |
| 3:16.4 | still, and definitely Waze. |
| 3:18.4 | If you use Ways, you need to be prepared to go all offroading in the backwoods around in the |
| 3:23.7 | rule to see the chickens |
| 3:24.7 | and the goats and the cows, and you may find yourself in neighborhoods you didn't even know |
