Welcome to the commune podcast. My name is Jeff Krasno. To drink or not to drink. That is the question, at least for today.

0:18.0

So there have been two conflicting messages circulating around the wellness sphere about alcohol

0:25.3

consumption.

0:26.6

Number one, alcohol is a neurotoxin and a carcinogen at any dosage.

0:33.1

And number two, alcohol is gabahurgic and in moderation can be a social lubricant that fosters the joy

0:41.8

and the connection that is central to cultures known for longevity.

0:47.7

Would it be possible to hold two conflicting thoughts simultaneously?

0:53.2

Well, today on the show I welcome Todd White, the founder of dry farm

wines. A dry farm imports wines that are low alcohol, low in sulfites, organic, have no sugar,

us through the vinification process of dry farms' natural wines.

1:22.6

Todd explains how the commercial wine industry's practices, including the use of additives and toxic

1:29.8

chemicals and farming contribute to the negative effects of drinking. And by comparison, Todd

1:36.7

unpacks how natural winemaking produces both a healthier and better tasting wine. Now, we get deep

1:43.9

all up in the chemistry of the crucial fermentation

1:48.4

method in natural winemaking, the use of wild yeast, and how a wine becomes absent of sugar.

1:55.5

Todd also explains dry farming, the practice of growing, in this case grape vines, without irrigation, and the

2:02.9

difference between red, white, and even orange wine. Throughout our conversation, we weigh the

2:10.4

balance between health, consciousness, and enjoyment in life. And Todd emphasizes that the key

2:17.3

lies in making conscious choices about our

2:20.6

consumption habits. Okay, before we dive in, I am so very, very grateful to those of you who write
