This is the Bamo podcast with Marty Solomon. I'm his co-host, Brent Billings. Today we wrap up the Assyrian

period of history by looking at one of the most distressing prophets. The voice of Second Isaiah

as he delivers numerous woes to the nations of the world, including God's people. Yet even this is

not void of hope, as we will see it scattered throughout today's portion of text. Yeah, so if we do,

we wrap up the Assyrian prophets today. We've looked at Jonah and Nachoom to Israel,

and now we get to the end of the period. Last discussion we talked about Zefania,

and that was more maybe towards the beginning of this period of history. And now as we get closer

and closer to Babylon, we start to hear voices of Second Isaiah. So, and you said section,

which raises the question, if you remember our first Isaiah conversation, we said,

we're going to look at four different voices of Isaiah. There could be more. There could be less.

It could be a lot of things, but as we've broken it up, we're end going to be in Second Isaiah. So,

what sections are we talking about? We are looking at chapters today 13 through 39 of Isaiah.

No presentation, but your Bible will be incredibly handy, especially if you have one with subtitles.

So, pause this podcast, grab that Bible, find one with good subtitles.

And I've usually had some good subtitles to follow along. And it will help us get a good bird's

eye view of what's going on in Second Isaiah. So, that's the section we're working with. Isaiah 13

through 39. I think when I said First Isaiah, I kind of mentioned one through 11. I think I would

probably put 12. There's some discussion about whether or not there's any redactor work between

one and two, between First Isaiah and Second Isaiah. But I think First Isaiah might put one through 12,

12 is either a happy beginning of Second Isaiah or a happy ending to First Isaiah, one of the two.

But it fits well with Isaiah 11 as I read it. But I'm also not a literary scholar.

And there could be hints in the Hebrew that we've got a different kind of Hebrew going on there
