Hi, this is David Platt.

0:07.2

I want to thank you for praying God's word with us through this podcast.

0:14.7

And I want to let you know that this next series of Pray the Word

0:18.9

is going to be a little different from what you may be used to as far as

0:23.0

just taking a book of the Bible and going chapter by chapters successively one after the other.

0:29.6

So I want to give you a little context about what this next 10 months or so of Pray the Word is going to look like.

0:36.0

The church that I have the

0:37.5

privilege of pastoring, McLean Bible Church in greater Washington, D.C., is going to be reading

0:43.0

and studying through the story of scripture together this year. So we're going to start

0:49.0

in Genesis 1 and we're going to walk through a Bible reading plan that's six days a week where we will cover

0:56.3

the story of scripture chronologically. So we'll go from Genesis to Revelation, but along the way,

1:02.5

we will be looking at different parts of the Bible as they appear in time to try to see how the

1:09.4

story of scripture fits together. The Bible reading plan has

1:12.8

about one or two chapters a day. And so for Pray the Word, what I'm going to do is take one verse

1:18.5

from that day's reading and let it lead us to pray accordingly. And then the next day, do the same,

1:25.9

the next day. So what that means is we won't hit

1:28.1

every chapter in the Bible. So over the course of this Bible reading plan, we won't read

1:32.9

every single chapter in scripture. So we will be hitting select texts and they will be in

1:39.7

chronological order. So not necessarily in the order in which we see them in our Bible,

1:45.4

for example, in the table of contents.

1:47.1

But I hope it will be helpful for you as you track along.
