Summary

Seen skinny jab on social media doing the rounds? Two 'celebrities' who have openly struggled with their weight are proponents of it (aka get paid to promote it at £250 a month to us) to encourage their followers to take it to aid weight loss. Is this a scandal, or is there some science to the compound found in Skinny Jab? co-host Tom Bainbridge, our Head of Education at The BTN Academy, delves into this topic. Enjoy.

but every now and then Ben lets me take the reins for one of these Monday shows I

0:09.4

actually feel like it's been a while since I've done one so if you do enjoy this and you think

0:13.3

that I'm any good at it do let us know and I'll do some more. Today I just

0:17.8

wanted to talk to you very briefly because there's been a bit of a stink

0:21.5

kicked up in the fitness space online in recent days

0:25.3

about a product called a company called Skinny jab. This is a product that is being

0:31.2

marketed online quite heavily in recent days. I don't know if it's a

0:34.5

relatively new company or if they've just stepped up their marketing efforts. But they've

recently hired two celebrities I suppose we can say, though I don't honestly know really who one of them is

0:45.9

one of them is kerikit owner I don't know the other one and the basic idea

0:51.4

behind this company is that they provide a product that they refer to as

0:55.6

skinny jab which will help you to lose weight and the marketing campaigns are largely

1:00.0

centered around the success of these two women who have historically struggled with their body weight, to lose weight and feel better about themselves, which I think we can all agree is good for them.

1:24.9

ladies who are being used for this marketing campaign made because the the claims that are

1:30.6

made around it seem very outlandish but additionally it just seems as

1:34.2

though the the entire attitude that is being promoted by the posts though not by

1:40.0

the company and we'll get to that in a minute seem to be that you can use this injection and you'll just lose weight and everything will be fine, it's a cure-all.

1:47.0

But that's not really the case.

1:49.0

If you look on the company website for Skinny Job,

1:51.0

and this is definitely not an endorsement of the company as I'm going to get to in a second.
