But today I will continue with this topic of finding wisdom. So last week we talked about the

twofold answer that God gives us in his word of where to find wisdom and that is to fear God

and to depart from evil. That's where we find wisdom and understanding and that understanding

like it all comes together. It clicks. It makes sense and your mind is cleared and not muddled

when you fear God and you obey his commands. So let's look at Proverbs 2 today once through 7.

Get a little more instruction on what we have to do to understand the fear of the Lord.

My son, if you receive my words and treasure my commands within you so that you incline your

ear to wisdom and apply your heart to understanding, yes, if you cry out for discernment

and lift up your voice for understanding, if you seek her as for silver and search for her as

for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God

for the Lord gives wisdom. From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He stores up sound

lot of verbs in this passage of things we must do. So we don't just sit in a recliner and expect

wisdom to just come upon us. There are things we have to do. We have to receive his words.

We have to treasure his commands. Treasure his command. Love his command. Love his law.

We have to listen. We have to incline our ear. We have to listen and not close our ears or close

our eyes. We have to listen and apply. That means doing it. Applying our heart to understanding.

That's what I love about the scriptures is they're so practical. It's not just great ideas.
