Summary

"When it’s race time, we’re competitive. I’m never just going to let Annie win! But it’s also really fun that when the race is over, we get to celebrate together regardless of how it went."

Annie Frisbie and Dakotah Lindwurm have a lot in common. They train together as members of Minnesota Distance Elite. They're both sponsored by Puma. And they're both chill, low key, and low profile in their everyday lives — but when it's marathon go time, they unleash their superpowers. This week on Friendship Fest, Annie (a 2:26 marathoner who made her 26.2-mile debut at the New York City Marathon last year) and Dakotah (who just won Grandma's Marathon in a personal best of 2:25) talk about how they met, how they bond during weekend long runs (by refusing to slow down for the boys), and how they find joy in racing. Plus, what's next for each of them.

Welcome to the Alley on the Run Show. I'm your host Alley Feller and this is Friendship Fest.

0:27.6

This series is all about celebrating Friendship on the Run. I love talking about what Friendship looks like for adults,

0:35.8

whether it's maintaining a childhood friendship into adulthood, or finding new friends as grownups,

0:41.5

which we all know isn't always easy. Fortunately, Running can help. And Friendship Fest totally proves that.

0:50.6

In each of these episodes, whether it's professional runners like Laura, Thuit, and Emma Bates,

0:55.6

or everyday runners, like Connor, Nichol, and Jess Mowbald, running plays a major role when it comes

1:01.8

to friendship. And today, we're hearing from two of the busiest professional marathoners in the US,

1:09.0

Minnesota Distance Elite teammates, and Puma-sponsored athletes, Dakota Lindworm, and Annie Frisbee.

1:16.0

You've heard from each of them on the show before and what I love about Annie and Dakota is that

1:21.0

they're really low-key, low profile, pretty chill, and then you get them on a marathon start line,

1:28.0

and they unleash these superpowers. Dakota just ran and won grandma's marathon, running a massive

1:36.0

personal best time in the process. She took her 229 down to a 225. And when you hear the name Dakota

1:44.0

Lindworm, you probably immediately think, Joy! Yeah, this woman is always running with a smile on her

1:51.8

face. And Annie is dabbling in all the distances lately on the roads, from the 5k to the 10k,

1:58.8

and of course up to the marathon. Annie made her marathon debut at the 2021 New York City Marathon,

2:05.1

and she was up front leading the pack for much of that race. Most recently, she ran the New

2:10.8

York Mini 10k, where she competed against an incredibly competitive field, and ran a very speedy

2:17.7

30201. That's a 510 pace per mile. Like I said, superpowers. My favorite part of this conversation

2:27.4

was hearing about how Annie and Dakota have bonded on their long runs. More specifically,
