πŸ“œ TODAY'S SCRIPTURE: Psalm 139

O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
    you discern my thoughts from afar.
You search out my path and my lying down
    and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue,
    behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
You hem me in, behind and before,
    and lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
    it is high; I cannot attain it.

Where shall I go from your Spirit?
    Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
    If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning
    and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 even there your hand shall lead me,
    and your right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
    and the light about me be night,”
12 even the darkness is not dark to you;
    the night is bright as the day,
    for darkness is as light with you.

13 For you formed my inward parts;
    you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
    my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
    intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
    the days that were formed for me,
    when as yet there was none of them.

17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
    How vast is the sum of them!
18 If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
    I awake, and I am still with you.

19 Oh that you would slay the wicked, O God!
    O men of blood, depart from me!
20 They speak against you with malicious intent;
    your enemies take your name in vain.
21 Do I not hate those who hate you, O Lord?
    And do I not loathe those who rise up against you?
22 I hate them with complete hatred;
    I count them my enemies.

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
    Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
    and lead me in the way everlasting!

Good morning my friends and welcome back to the morning mindset. It's time for you and for me to get our minds aligned with the truth of God.

0:09.5

And I'm grateful that you're with me for this journey because you and I really, really need this, don't we?

0:15.8

We need this boost every morning

0:18.6

to get our minds on track for the day

0:22.2

and for the people that we're going to encounter so that we can show them

0:26.8

what God is doing in our lives and who he is. That's an amazing privilege we get and it happens in part as we have our minds aligned with his truth.

0:38.1

Today we're looking at Psalm chapter 139. As I've said in the last few episodes, this is one of my favorite Psalms, has been since I was a young boy,

0:48.7

and I want to focus in on verses 13 through 16 today.

0:53.7

This is a very interesting section of the passage

0:57.1

because it goes to a topic that you wouldn't think

1:01.4

an ancient Jewish writer would be thinking about very much and that is

1:06.1

the creation of a human being in his mother's womb.

1:12.4

Now we have to remember as we read this section

1:15.0

that David's point in this chapter

1:18.0

is to point out how much God knows him,

1:21.0

how intimately God knows him, and intimately God understands him and cares for him

1:26.4

as a human being as an individual.

1:28.7

And David is making that point by highlighting how much God is in control of and present in every aspect of his life.

1:39.2

Let's keep that in mind.

1:40.4

Let's also keep in mind that this is a poem.

1:43.2

This is written in poetic form.

1:45.3

So we should expect to see imagery used.
