struggling with anxiety and sinking deeper, sinking deeper down the wormhole as I would like to say.

In anxiety circles and on the internet, maybe in a lot of books, we often hear of being a warrior,

fighting, the good fight, and pushing through.

And I look at this often as a struggle. This is struggling and we're struggling

with the anxiety. We're fighting it or pushing our way through it, white knuckling it perhaps,

just holding our breath and saying I'm just going to get through this, I'm just going to get through this.

And I'd like to look at the metaphor of swimming.

If we're in deep water and we're swimming,

we can be enjoying ourselves and maybe something happens

and we get a little flash of nervousness maybe we've floated out

too far or something and we think oh no I have to get I have to get into shore and

the more that we struggle, the more tense that we get, the more difficult the swimming becomes.

When you are being in a situation where you're calling for help in the water they they instruct you to relax

How do we learn how to float in the water? We let go. We relax. We don't struggle. We can't tense our

muscles up and fight with this. We can't thrash about and beat it down.
