Hello and welcome to the Star Wars stuff podcast where we talk about all things Star Wars. I am James and today I'm going to be by myself. I'm doing a quick book review of Queen Shadow. It came out last week and it's written by E.K. Johnson, who's also written a few of another book of Star Wars, which was Star Wars Asoka, which is a very, very popular book.

And so she wrote this one called Queen Shadow.

And this takes place between episode one and episode two.

I was a little iffy of the timeline, because I remember I thought it was going to be afterward.

I don't know.

But yeah, it takes place between

episode one and episode two, and it begins with the beginnings of the new queen coming in

after Amadala. And it's very interesting to see the politics and how the politics worked

on Nabu, and to see how the hierarchy is there on Nabu.

And so that's where it starts off. And we get a good look at her handmaidens who you see in

episode one. They're the ones in the orangish, orangeish red, you know, cloaks. And you see their

positions and what they do for the queen

and a lot of the story is you know with them and her together and it's it's a fairly interesting

look at it and the the politics that was going on around there and it was it was what i wasn't what I was expecting, but I still really, really enjoyed the book.

And like I said, it starts off with her, you know, the swearing-in of the new queen,

and she's then asked to stay on as senator, which is where we see her at the beginning of episode two.

So it, you know, kind of does a really good job of segueing into that. And we see

the behind the scenes of the queen's life, which was really interesting, in my opinion. I know

most people, whenever they saw episode one, you immediately were amazed at the costumes that she

wears, the Queen Amadala wears, and how many times she

changes them. And this book, very interestingly, goes into detail about those costumes, goes into

detail about, like, the functions of them, and the fact that a lot of them are bulletproof, and
