Well, it's been my habit to begin these podcasts with bringing in some object or book or something

that has meaning in my life. And this one is right at the epicenter of that. This little book is

called Checkbook of the Bank of Faith by Charles Spurgeon.

I don't know how else to say this, but this is magnificent gospel writing.

It just blows my mind. You can see on the page here how short these

writings are, and yet with an economy of words, he has the ability to get to the center of our need for Jesus, the magnificence of God's

love for us, the danger of the disease of sin. It's just, it's just incredible. And I was laughing with my wife Luella this morning because this is her copy.

And she started turning down the corner of the pages, the one she wanted to remember.

And she ended up turning down every page of this book because they are so meaningful.

So whatever else I'm doing for my personal time of worship, this is part of it.

And I am so thankful for Spurgeon, I'm so thankful that this stuff has been written and preserved for generations.

And I am daily convicted and encouraged and motivated and my gratitude is deepened.
