Welcome to Friendship Fest, Season 2! This seven-week series is all about celebrating friendship on the run. We'll hear from some of our favorite running buddies — from the pros to the everyday runners — about how they met, the role running plays in their friendship, and what big goals and dreams they share for the future.

We're kicking off Season 2 of this series with Boulder-based besties and professional marathoners Laura Thweatt and Emma Bates. They share the story of their first meeting in 2019 ("I decided then and there that Emma Bates was my girl crush," recalls Laura), they talk about how their friendship progressed, and they talk about their time training together as members of Team Boss (which Laura has since left — with Emma's support, of course). 0:32.4	especially professional women runners, were mentioning other professional women runners.
0:38.2	They would talk about their training runs together or about what it was like racing each other.
0:42.8	And I think it's important to talk about adult friendships, right?
0:46.0	Making friends as a kid that tends to be easy or at least convenient because your friends are
0:50.7	right there. They're your classmates, your teammates, your parents, friends, kids. But as an adult,
0:56.6	it's a totally different game. Whether it's about maintaining the friendships you've had since
1:01.3	childhood or making new ones as this grown adult human who works and might have a family and is
1:07.9	busy and pays taxes and stuff. For the next 7 weeks, we will be hearing from 7 pairs of runner
1:14.8	friends. They basically love on the run for friendships. We'll hear how these friendships began,
1:21.5	we'll learn what role-running plays in their relationships, and we'll hear about whether these
1:25.9	people ever had the moment that I know very well, making friends as an adult. Which is,
1:31.3	do you think she likes me? Do you think she'll text me? Do you think she wants to hang out with me again?
1:36.6	We are kicking off season 2 of Friendship Fest with two returning Alley on the Run Show guests,
1:42.0	Boulder-based professional runners, Emma Bates and Laura Thweet. I was shocked to discover that
1:48.0	these two marathoners only met for the first time in 2019 and that they didn't really become friends
