Summary

Ian Hartitz and Dwain McFarland join forces to break down Dwain's article on the optimal approach for picking running backs in 2022. The guys go through early-, mid-, and late-round targets, centerpieces, fades, and general strategy at the position, mostly focusing on re-draft formats, but with a touch of best-ball goodness thrown in. Saquon Barkley in every round two, Kareem Hunt is a perfect mid-round pick at the moment, thoughts on when you should and shouldn't handcuff, all that, and much more in another electric edition of The PFF Fantasy Football Podcast.

I'm your host, Ian Hart. It's joining me as always. The one the only Dwayne, the rock,

0:18.5

McFarlane. Dwayne, we just talked quarterbacks. Now we're talking running backs. Still remains

0:22.8

a great day to be great.

0:24.8

It's always a great day to be great with you, Ian. It's a great day to be great, if not,

0:30.4

like, sheesh. What are we doing to work to Ianism's end right away? Yeah, I mean, had a blast

0:37.2

doing the quarterback one, so folks can always go back and check that out. We're going to do

0:40.6

all of the different positions. Now we're going to focus over on running backs. And so for

0:45.2

this one, just a couple of quick notes like before we get started, I really just focused

0:50.3

more on ESPN and Yahoo. When we talked about quarterback, we were talking about the FFPC and

0:54.2

things like that. I've had several of you reach out to me and they're like, I don't really plan

0:57.4

those kind of leagues, so it's good context to have, to know where players go in those leagues,

1:01.7

which is kind of a good way to think about it. I really think about when I look at the high stakes

1:05.6

crowd, it's almost just another lens that I look through Ian to be like, okay, am I off on

1:11.1

any of these players versus where the market is and versus where the high stakes crowd is taking

1:16.7

them? And it's just another thing to ask yourself questions, essentially. Why is this player going so

1:22.3

much higher than another player over ESPN? So for example, I listed like just seven and a tweet

1:30.5

yesterday. So say, go through them. Go through them. It's a great list. So say, Juan Barkley goes

1:35.2

pick 16 over at the FFPC right now, 31st on ESPN. So ESPN, Yahoo, more homely, type style stuff.

1:42.9

Travis ETN is a huge one. Pick 26 versus 57. I mean, that's 30 pick difference on those two

1:49.7

guys. Breeze Hall, about a 12 pick difference. Pick 36 over at FFPC 48 on ESPN. James Cook, pick 95

1:57.2

versus 123, Rashad White 104 versus 169, basically going undrafted in ESPN right now. Not basically,

2:04.8

only 2% of leagues is Rashad White even getting drafted. It's around nine pick on FFPC. Melvin Gordon,
