The Incomparable.

Welcome back, everybody, to The Incomparable.

I'm your host, Jason Snell.

This episode is about a TV show called Debs, written and directed by Alex Garland, all of it, all eight episodes

of it.

It was on Hulu here in the U.S. as part of the FX on Hulu plan, where they now make

FX originals that don't go on FX, the TV channel.

They just go to Hulu because they made so many great shows that they

had more shows to make, I guess, something like that. Anyway, it is a story that you think that we

would be interested in talking about because it's kind of a weird science fiction thriller

that's about Silicon Valley. And also, yes, it is about free will and determinism and whether there are

parallel universes and there's a machine that is looking back in time or is it forward in time,

or is it? There's a lot going on here. And even though it's been out for a little while now,

I decided that so many panelists on The Incomparable had seen the show

that we should probably do an episode about it. Like, this is one of those cases where I didn't watch

the show for homework. It just sort of became a show that turned into fodder for the incomparable.

However, there is one person here at least who watched this show specifically because he mistakenly volunteered to be on this episode

and then had to watch eight hours of a TV show.

And that is my first guest here.
