Give ear to my words, O Lord;
    consider my groaning.
²Give attention to the sound of my cry,
    my King and my God,
    for to you do I pray.
³O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice;
    in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you^[a] and watch.

⁴For you are not a God who delights in wickedness;
    evil may not dwell with you.
⁵The boastful shall not stand before your eyes;
    you hate all evildoers.
⁶You destroy those who speak lies;
    the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.

⁷But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love,
    will enter your house.
I will bow down toward your holy temple
    in the fear of you.
⁸Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness
    because of my enemies;
    make your way straight before me.

⁹For there is no truth in their mouth;
    their inmost self is destruction;
their throat is an open grave;
    they flatter with their tongue.
¹⁰Make them bear their guilt, O God;
    let them fall by their own counsels;
because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out,
    for they have rebelled against you.

¹¹But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
    let them ever sing for joy,
and spread your protection over them,
    that those who love your name may exult in you.
¹²For you bless the righteous, O Lord;
    you cover him with favor as with a shield.

0:38.0	We're looking at Psalm chapter 5 today and we talked a little bit yesterday about the tendency we have to
0:46.8	complain and whether or not it's okay to complain to God about the things that
0:51.4	are going on in your life. I mentioned yesterday that there are a
0:55.0	handful of Psalms that are referred to by theologians as Psalms of complaint, where the
0:59.8	writer is doing exactly that. They're complaining to God about the situation that they are in.
1:07.6	Psalm 5 begins kind of that way. It's not really so much complaining as kind of beseeching God or
1:14.7	calling out to God for help in a situation. This one is only about 10 verses long
1:20.4	so I'm going to read the whole thing. Actually it's 12 verses verses I'm going to read the whole thing and then go back and comment
1:25.4	says give ear to my words oh Lord consider my groaning give attention to the sound of my cry my king and my God for to you do I pray.
1:35.0	Oh Lord in the morning you hear my voice in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch
1:41.0	for you are not a God who delights in wickedness. Evil may not dwell with you.
1:46.8	The bolstful shall not stand before your eyes. You hate all evildoers.
1:50.9	You destroy those who speak lies, the Lordrs the bloodthirsty and deceitful man
1:57.2	But I through the abundance of your steadfast love will enter your house I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you.
