Summary

Are you a CEO who wants to specialize and work with a particular niche of clients? Maybe you need some guidance on how you can transition away from some of your current clients that don’t fit into that niche?

Sheila Hansen is a CPA and a member of $ix Figures Lab who wants to shift her business into specializing and focusing on a certain niche of clients so she can grow her business and increase her revenue goals.

On today’s episode, I help Sheila identify her dream client and coach her on how she can change her messaging to attract those clients to her business. I also give her some tips on upgrading her mindset so she can attract more wealth.

The messy middle. It takes entrepreneurs off guard. They have spent time building their business and making it through the startup phase. They have weathered several storms. And right when they think it should be getting easier, it can actually start to seem hard and well, messy. You might be at capacity. You might have hired and it

0:24.5

didn't work out. You might realize your policies and procedures need to tighten up. You might have

0:30.6

hired others to serve your clients and it did not go well. You might get a surprising tax bill. You

0:37.3

might realize that you need to specialize or niche or

0:41.1

both or go through this process again. These issues are normal and a stage all small business

0:49.1

owners go through. My client, Sheila Hansen, has gone through many of these issues, except for the tax issue because

0:56.7

she is a CPA. She recently had to let go of a team member who was serving clients, and part of

1:04.6

her messy middle is that she's working for a lot of different types of clients for whom she provides various financial services

1:13.1

at a myriad of different price points as well. An issue for almost all the CPAs and bookkeepers

1:19.8

I work with is that their clients do not tend to ever leave them. That is an issue for financial

1:25.8

service providers that we actually support them through.

1:30.1

So as you let go of services and raise prices, you will also have to let go of clients.

1:36.1

They are unlikely to let go of you if you are in the financial services space.

1:41.2

Sheila wants coaching around how to reach the type of client that she aspires to serve by

1:46.0

specializing and niching. Remember, we specialize by the type of work we do and we niche by the type of

1:53.6

client. In this session, we cover how Sheila can manage the transition away from some of the

1:59.2

clients she currently serves and where a

2:02.9

great specialized niche might be for her. Along the way, we discuss how to reset her mindset around

2:10.4

creating more wealth for herself. Before we dive in, may I welcome you to the BizChicks podcast, which has been a free resource for women entrepreneurs since 2014.
