In corporate America, we have a bias toward in-person, real-time conversation and the people who think quick on their feet, quote-unquote, or who can distill

ideas into three succinct bullet points, tend to be heard. And so there's a lot of coaching

of you then therefore need to speak and talk like that. And if you aren't getting heard,

it's because you aren't doing that skill set enough. Having a seat at the table doesn't mean your voice is actually welcome.

Knowing something is wrong doesn't mean it's easy to speak up.

In fact, there are incentives for many of us to stay silent.

Why speak up if you know that it won't be received well and often makes things worse?
