Some of the stories take pot shots at other properties in the genre, but they are done

with a love and understanding of the original that makes them feel like an extension of the

conversation rather than a mean-spirited joke.

The endings of the stories are particularly strong.

You can tell the author spent time thinking about the right way for each one to end, and
