that we have coming up is a morbidly educational conversation. Dare I say fun, it's a very

fun conversation. We learned a ton about poisons. But Tim, I'm fascinated with how you are doing

today. How are you? I'm doing great. Thanks a lot for asking.

Yeah, very excited to introduce this conversation with author Deborah Blum and Lance.

She's no lightweight. She is a Pulitzer Prize winning science journalist, bestselling author of

six books. And we primarily speak with her about a book called

The Poison Squad. And Lance, she's also the director of the Knight Science Journalism program at

MIT, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology right down the street from us. So no big deal over here.

And Tim, if we have one more Pulitzer Prize winner on the show, I think the Pulitzer

committee is just going to have to give us an honorary one. I'd love to get a Pulitzer.

I think so. And I think we're not really joking about this anymore.

No, no, we deserve it. We've deserved it for a long time, especially when we bring guests like this to the conversation, to the airwaves.

We're able to have this discussion with Debra.

And she gives us this history of poison, how it was used, how it's been misused, all of the different poisons.

And she does this really fun thing, this cool thing where she animates them into personalities in her mind when she writes about them, when she considers them and does research.

Pretty cool to hear somebody talk about this.

Someone who appreciates, as she says, efficiency, not only in poison, but in all levels of work and all aspects of life.

She just happens to be very fascinated in the uses and misuses of all sorts of poisons.
