| 0:00.0 | Yo, today's QOD is Solitude Matters, and for some people it is the air that they breathe. |
| 0:08.0 | Here we go! |
| 0:30.0 | Welcome back to the Quotan of the Day Show. I'm your Hope Sean, Crox and the SeanCroxon.com. |
| 0:39.5 | I am super excited about today's talk. This talk spoke to my soul. I felt really understood. |
| 0:49.5 | And here's why. I am the consummate introvert, and most people are very surprised to hear |
| 0:55.5 | that and find that out. And when you're an introvert, I'll just talk about myself. |
| 1:02.5 | It doesn't mean that I don't like to be around people. It doesn't mean that I don't like people. |
| 1:08.5 | Like I love people, but I can only be around people for so long. |
| 1:12.5 | So if I go out to the bar, I go to a restaurant, I go to a party. When I'm around people, after a little while, I start to feel drained. |
| 1:19.5 | Social experiences tend to make introverts feel drained. So I'm usually the first person to go home. |
| 1:25.5 | You know, it can be like 10, 10, 30, I'm like, okay, I'm ready to go home, call the Uber, I'm out. People like you get your leave and already, like yeah, I'm just, you know, ready to go. |
| 1:32.5 | Are you sure? What's wrong? There's nothing wrong, I just kind of want to go home. |
| 1:36.5 | So introverts tend to spend time by themselves to recharge their batteries. So I like to come home, I get in bed, I get on the couch, I go outside, and I read a book. |
| 1:45.5 | And I'm perfectly fine being by myself because that's how I get recharged so I can go back out into the world. |
| 1:53.5 | However, despite the fact that one third up to one half of the population are introverts, most people tend to not understand this. |
| 2:03.5 | And here's what happens and it becomes really annoying. |
| 2:07.5 | People are always asking, what's wrong? Are you okay? What's wrong? Why are you by yourself? Why are you over here by yourself? |
| 2:15.5 | Are you okay? Like there's, there's nothing wrong. I'm totally fine. Like introverts are totally fine being by themselves. |
| 2:24.5 | And when you ask what's wrong all the time, the only thing that's wrong is the fact that you're always asking what's wrong. |
| 2:31.5 | Like it's okay to be solo. And what Susan talks about here and I really love this is the fact that society has been shaped to kind of favor the extroverts. |
| 2:42.5 | Not in a bad way, but it's forcing introverts to be in these extroverted experiences and it doesn't work so well. |
| 2:52.5 | I do my best work when I am by myself. And a third to half of the population is the same way, but when we're told all the time that we have to work in groups and be in teams and all that stuff, it is like excruciating. |
