The same cannot be said for most other arts and culture institutions.

This week has brought news of two different different mighty, too big to fail Canadian arts

institutions having trouble. I don't know if you saw this, Luke, but the Hot Docs Film Festival,

which is the biggest documentary film festival in North America. They had their big press conference

to announce their new festival this year,

and the day before it happened, most of their programming team resigned en masse, 10 programmers.

This has come after a couple of years of difficult times for hot docs. Theatrical exhibition

for documentary films is not something that has really recovered

after the pandemic. But beyond that, it looks like there's a lot of internal strife. The programmers

put out a joint statement on social media saying, recently, the once welcoming programming environment

was turned into a toxic workplace by one, a lack of respect

for protocol and business communication, two, the dismissal and or diminishment of team members' voices,
