Hello and welcome to another episode of Page 94.

My name is Andrew Hunter Murray, and this is a slightly unusual episode

because some of it was recorded in the office,

back when going into offices was still

permitted and some like this bit is being recorded from home. This is obviously a

very unusual time and we appreciate that every bit of news you will be reading or

listening to at the moment will be about the biggest story of the day. Just like

Private Eye itself this podcast will be covering the coronavirus in due course and its extraordinary

effects on the whole of our national life, but there are still other stories happening even

at this time of national crisis and this episode is on just one such topic.

These stories mattered before and they matter even in the middle of all this and we hope that we will

keep you informed on a range of such subjects throughout.

To anyone who is concerned that the virus might affect our publishing schedule, we can assure you

it will remain exactly as erratic and unpredictable as it always has done in the past. We make that our

guarantee. So with all that in mind, today we are looking at arguably an even less cheery subject, the tangled story of IXA, the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse.

The inquiry was set up by Theresa May in 2014 in the wake of revelations about Jimmy

Sevel, which were followed by claims of abuse about other powerful figures in the

worlds of politics and the media stretching back for decades.

Private Eye has been covering the inquiry, which is in the process of issuing reports into its findings, hasn't finished yet.
