y'all. Thanks for tuning into the podcast. Sorry, we kind of dropped off the radar for a few weeks,

but we had a bit of a perfect storm going on of health issues and family stuff and some work

craziness thrown in for good measure. So yeah, you know, life necessarily took precedence over the

podcast for a while. But we're carving out some space today to get this new episode out to you guys

and continue setting the stage for the start of the Atlanta campaign.

As y'all will recall with the last episode, we talked about William Tecumseh Sherman's Meridian

raid out in Mississippi, and in connection with that, how the Federals at Chattanooga were

supposed to keep the Confederates in northwest Georgia occupied so that they couldn't detach any

troops to send against Sherman. And so while Sherman marched across the state of Mississippi

to Meridian and then back to Vicksburg, the

Federals sordid from the Chattanooga area and conducted a big reconnaissance in force into

northwest Georgia against the Confederates holding Rocky Face Ridge, and while doing so, George

Thomas, the Rock of Chickamauga, took note of a place

called Snake Creek Gap in the southern extension of Rocky Face, which in the future might
