πŸ“œ TODAY'S SCRIPTURE: Psalm 105

My heart is steadfast, O God!
    I will sing and make melody with all my being!
Awake, O harp and lyre!
    I will awake the dawn!
I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
    I will sing praises to you among the nations.
For your steadfast love is great above the heavens;
    your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens!
    Let your glory be over all the earth!
That your beloved ones may be delivered,
    give salvation by your right hand and answer me!

God has promised in his holiness:
    “With exultation I will divide up Shechem
    and portion out the Valley of Succoth.
Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine;
    Ephraim is my helmet,
    Judah my scepter.
Moab is my washbasin;
    upon Edom I cast my shoe;
    over Philistia I shout in triumph.”

10 Who will bring me to the fortified city?
    Who will lead me to Edom?
11 Have you not rejected us, O God?
    You do not go out, O God, with our armies.
12 Oh grant us help against the foe,
    for vain is the salvation of man!
13 With God we shall do valiantly;
    it is he who will tread down our foes.

And in those moments, I believe there is a Holy Spirit inspired sense of determination that needs to rise up in our hearts.

And we see that in the passage for today, Psalm chapter 108, where David writing this song for Israel to sing, is writing about the kind of determination

needed in order to live rightly before the Lord. He begins in verse number one by saying my heart

0:56.2

is steadfast, oh God. I will sing and make melody with all my being. You see I believe David was speaking about the

1:06.6

truth of his inner being rather than letting his emotions push him around.

1:13.1

I mean, he may be feeling a little off that day.

1:16.0

He may be feeling a little unprepared for the day.

1:20.9

But he says to himself, as he says to God, my heart is steadfast. I will sing and make melody with all my being.

1:31.0

And then he gets others in on the act. He says, awake, O Harp and Liar, I will awake

the dawn. I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the people. I will sing praises to you among the nations for your

steadfast love is great above the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

1:51.8

Do you see what David did there? He not only is prompting himself to

1:57.4

think rightly about his own willingness to praise the Lord, but also pointing to the things God has done as

2:04.8

reminders to his own soul of why he needs to become steadfast in his approach to the day. He says, I will give thanks because of what

you've done. Your steadfast love is great. Your faithfulness reaches to the

clouds and then in verse five, he finally breaks into actual praise.

2:26.8

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens.

2:29.8

Let your glory be over all the earth, that your beloved ones may be delivered.

Give salvation by your right hand and answer me.

You see, our determination to live each day with our focus of the Lord is something that
