This invasion was launched by the Japanese who were trying to obtain greater access to the natural resources available in Manchuria and northern China. But here in the introduction to this series on the Second Sino-Japanese War, I would like to present the case for why another possible answer revolves around events in China. July 1937 is probably the best date, or the date with the best claim, which is the traditional
