This is K.M. Island and you are listening to the 389th episode of the Helping Writers Become Authors Podcast.

Summer has finally arrived.

It's sunny and warm every day. The trees are going all Ireland on me. The wild roses are out.

It's gorgeous. Which means I want to be outside every possible minute I can spare away from the computer.

However, I'm still trying to figure out the best way to take my writing outside.

Since I'm now in first draft mode on my portal fantasy sequel Dreambreaker

that means my preferred method is now typing rather than writing long hand as I do

when outlining. I can take all my outline notes outside with me on my iPad and I can use my handy little

Alpha Smart Neo, which is basically a keyboard with a two inch screen to do the typing.

What I'm still trying to finesse is an ergonomic solution.

Staring down at a screen for two to three hours does not make my neck happy in the least.

So I've jimmed up a little stand for the keyboard,

so the screen is at least at eye level.

It's not ideal for my wrists

when typing long periods.

But it seems workable for now and we'll just

have to see how it turns out.
