Welcome back to another episode of five minutes in church history. On this episode, we're talking about a great subject. Maybe the subject, we're talking about theology.

We're calling this five ways of theology. That's to say five different adjectives or five different ways theology gets described.

You might have heard this before. Of course, the theology we're all after is a true theology and Orthodox theology.

But we use these expressions, biblical theology, or historical theology or systematic theology.

What are these?

Where did they come from? Let's look at five of them. Before we do, let's make

sure we understand the word theology. It's a compound word comes from the word thios which means God and logos which means a word but in this case the study of

So we're talking about the highest of all subjects, aren't we?

We're talking about the study of God.

And as Thomas Aquinas told us in his definition of theology,

theology is the art

about God and leads us, leads us in worship ultimately to God.

Whereas the Puritan, William Ames simply said,

theology is the art of living to God.

What a beautiful definition.

Well, we use these different words.

In fact, I have a book on my shelf.

I have it right in front of me.
