| 0:42.0 | Today we're going to be talking about the five things to quit doing right now. |
| 0:46.0 | So as we dive into this, you have to realize there's things that you should do in order to be successful, happy, healthy, all of those things. |
| 0:54.0 | There's things that you shouldn't do and for some reason us as humans, we tend to repeat things that we shouldn't do. |
| 1:00.0 | We get stuck in habit loops and we continue to do the things that we know we shouldn't do. |
| 1:04.0 | So I'm going to go over the five things with you really quick that will basically hold you back from the happiness that you want, the success that you want, and ultimately the life that you want as well. |
| 1:16.0 | So number one, the first thing that I think that you should quit in order to have the life that you want is to stop trying to please everybody. |
| 1:26.0 | Now here's the thing, us as humans, we try to please people and the reason why we try to please people is because of the fact that we are tribal beings. |
| 1:35.0 | If you think back to 50,000, 100,000 years ago, you know, when we were tribal beings, we had to be in a group. |
| 1:44.0 | We had to be part of a tribe because we relied on them for food, for water, for shelter, for clothing, for raising children in the tribe. |
| 1:52.0 | So to be kicked out of a tribe 100,000 years ago meant certain death for a human. |
| 1:58.0 | Now in 2019, to be rejected by somebody is not going to be certain death, but still we have that programming in our brains from thousands of thousands of thousands of years of our ancestors knowing that we had to be tribal beings. |
| 2:12.0 | We had to always fit in, we had to always be part of a group, but it doesn't serve us to try to please everybody anymore. |
| 2:23.0 | The problem is if you're not pleasing people, let me say this, let me actually rephrase it, if you are pleasing people, usually what that means is that you are staying the same as them, you're staying mediocre, you're not jumping above them in showing that you could be the absolute best version of yourself. |
| 2:43.0 | So ultimately what usually happens is when you are the best version of yourself, people feel small around you, people feel inferior around you and people do not want to feel inferior. |
| 2:54.0 | So the very first thing to quit doing is to quit trying to please everybody. |
| 3:00.0 | There's a quote that says, I don't know and this is, you know, it's funny that this is Bill Cosby that said this because obviously he's not the best person to look up to nowadays. |
