the Cardinals' workhorse running back the rest of the season

because, oh my goodness, I love when people overreact.

There's a game in prime time on Thursday night football. People have such high expectations for Trey Benson. Oh, he's going to be the next big thing. James Connor got hurt, and three days later, his team has to play on Thursday night football, and people are expecting the world of Trey Benson. No, that's not how this works. So yeah, you shouldn't be shocked when Trey Benson goes out there and takes eight carries for 35 yards and averages just 4.4 yards per carry because his team, the Arizona Cardinals, were facing the Seahawks, the number one ranked defense in the NFL entering this game on a short week. But the good thing that I like to see was that Trey Benson actually caught five balls. Now, we've been seeing Trey Benson and get more targets this year. In this game, he had five targets. All of last year combined, he had six targets, right? He's already done five or more targets in multiple games this season, so it's nice to see them targeting him in the passing attack. He had 13 touches in this game. The targets helped him get to a PPR floor for you and your fantasy matchup. But everybody came out of that game if you're on fantasy Twitter and if you're in these reactions shows and all that feeling bad about Trey Benson and going like, oh my God, Amari Di Mercado emerged out of nowhere. I thought Amari DiMercato wasn't going to be involved. What do you mean he wasn't going to be involved? James Connor got hurt and is out for the year. You think Trey Benson's just going to play 100% of the snaps moving forward? No running back in the NFL plays 100% of the snaps.

No running back in the NFL plays 100% of the snaps. Basically, none of them play 85 to 90%. So, of course, another guy was going to be involved, right? People got annoyed that Amari Di Mercado was out there in like the two-minute drill and catching passes. Yeah, he's the better pass catcher running back between the two of them. He's going to be playing some snaps.

Do not get frustrated by this Thursday night football short week against this Seattle Seahawks defense that allowed just 4.48 yards per carry entering the game. Second in the NFL. There's only been one defense in franchise history better than them. Oh yeah, one of the greatest defenses of all time, the 2013 Seahawks allowing just 4.42. So it was a very tough matchup on a short week where Trey Benson went from being the backup to the starter on three days notice against that Seahawks defense. That's difficult. But even in that game, he still played over 50% of the snaps, saw 67% of the rush attempts. He's still the clear running back one here. He saw 23% targets per route run as well, right? Led the backfield and target share,

even though Amari Demercato, if you scroll to it, he did play 94% of the two-minute offense snaps. That's Demercato and 93% of the long down and distance. That's just going to be the case, right? Like, we don't fault Derek Henry and some of these other running backs, Jordan Mason more recently like they're not going to be the guy out there on third and 15 that's fine most running

Again, this is completely fine. This was a team that got down big in this game. They were down by multiple touchdowns in the first half against the Seattle Seahawks. It's no wonder why, at some times, after sacks to Kyla Murray in negative plays, that they were in these long down and distance situations. But moving forward, he now gets the mini by. He gets 10 days heading into week five now and he's going to get some softer matchups. The Cardinals is a softer matchup. The Colts is a softer matchup. The Packers at first didn't look like a soft matchup, but the Cowboys just put up 40 points on them. Cowboys definitely a soft matchup. Another tough matchup against the Seahawks and the 49ersers defense is banged up right now. We just saw Travis E.T.N go for 120 plus yards against them. So the schedule

moving forward for Trey Benson is nice. If people don't view him as a top 20 running back

rest of season, you should go and trade for him because he's definitely a top 20 back the rest of the

season. Let's not forget, he's taking over for James Connor, who in his older years was putting up a thousand plus rushing yards in back-to-back seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, put up 47 receptions last year. Like, even if Trey Benson doesn't come in here and see the role that James Connor was seeing in this offense, I'm pretty sure he's going to get pretty close to it. He's younger, more explosive, right? And he's seeing some targets. Here's some trades currently happening. Chalin Waddle, I would trade him for Benson.

Matthew Golden, I trade for Benson. Jordan Addison off of a hundred-yard game where most of that came on one reception. I trade him for Benson, right? Devont-Dismith, I trade for Benson. Kalilashikor, I trade all these guys basically right now for Trey Benson. I view Trey Benson if we were to redraft today as like a fourth round fantasy pin.

Now, I'm also targeting Kenneth Walker in some deals right now because it just so happens

that he was also in that Thursday night game.
