| 0:00.0 | What's up everyone this is Dustin from Team GaryVee. Today's episode is five pieces of advice for people who are just starting to get into the business world or starting their own business. Hope you enjoy. |
| 0:11.5 | What's up guys, just signing some books. You're about to watch the session we just had. I'll be honest with you. There's a lot of pressure on Jason. I think there's at least four viral individual clips. This is probably the long form one, but Jason I'm not joking around, fucking fine. |
| 0:24.0 | What to do if your clients or boss underestimate you believe this or not because in the GaryVee land there's one kind of perception, but in my corporate land, I massively underestimated by our clients of the intermediate. |
| 0:42.0 | Because I don't look the part because I don't have this degree or that I use it for my advantage, but I have a big difference than you I own my business. |
| 0:53.0 | But on the client side, I still have to sell them and sometimes I use the underestimating as an advantage. Sometimes when I know I'm being underestimated and I come into a room, I'll go hard on depth and stake just to make them realize what's actually going on here. |
| 1:09.0 | Sometimes I'll sometimes I'll might drop not from like pontificating and like sizzle like big profound statement me. I'll go into some real fucking hardcore detail real fast about business, then makes them real uncomfortable because I might know they're business better than they know their business when you're being underestimated. Speak facts. |
| 1:29.0 | I'm just starting out and don't feel like I have any leverage. What do I do when reaching out to influencers with little to no money and no leverage? How can you bring them value by asking that? |
| 1:39.0 | By asking them straight up 100% and just knowing back to the same game I told him. People like Gary I hit up I DMed all the influencers like you told me nobody responded. I'm like how many? They're like 130. I'm like good. There's about nine million more. |
| 1:54.0 | And you just say will you help me? No because that's not the way to position it right because most people want to answer that because somebody who's got an audience that's all they see. I would say how can I help you? |
| 2:06.0 | That was my question. You see where I'm going? Yeah. Like like yo I fuck with you. Like how can I help you? |
| 2:13.0 | But then like you don't have any leverage. Yes you do. You have your time. You never know. Do you rock didn't have any leverage? Do you rock? Ask me four times? And then finally said yeah fine make me a fucking video. Not even in that mindset. And then this will happen because of it. That's real. That's real. That's that story. |
| 2:32.0 | He has to be four times. I want to make a video for you. He was a video. I wasn't making content like that. But it was in my mind. And by the four times like you know what? |
| 2:42.0 | Fuck it. Okay. Make me a free video. Show me. Here we are. Now he's the fucking the word that people you like people literally say literally a fucking verb. |
| 2:53.0 | Literally people like that. My D Rock's name is Rick. You know, do you know. It's a name. It's real. And you know what? I said this at the time to do it. I said you're going to impact people. Do you know |
| 3:06.0 | how awesome it is for people that love to do it to do it? You know what? People wanted to make documentaries their whole lives yet only 74 people a year get to do them. And now 74,000 people you get to do it. All it takes is one person. |
| 3:20.0 | How do I network with people more when I'm very introverted? I'm a natural introvert. So like networking is important. But I'm not the kind of person that walks into a room with you. There's only there's only two ways to do it. How do you do it? You the force your way through and incrementally get better over time by deploying patients or you outsource it. |
| 3:37.0 | You're more than welcome to give up 20% of your business to the most charismatic friend you know that you trust you are right. You are most people don't want to give up 20% of their business. You know, but I'm like 20% of zero is zero. |
| 3:52.0 | See, and if you're not going to be able to network and that's important, then what the fuck are we talking about here? Right. I like results. That's why I win. Not how I want the results to happen. |
| 4:06.0 | People have ideology of how they want it to go down. I just want it to go down. I'm not getting any clients and everyone is saying no to me. |
| 4:18.0 | I think one of the biggest mistakes that so many people in youth make is lack of patience and not willing to pay their dues. Like young man with the new business, like I always hear he hasn't said it, but a lot of it like, carry. I'm not getting a lot of clients. Like everyone's saying no. I'm like, that's what should be happening. |
| 4:34.0 | That's right. That's what should be happening. Who the fuck are you? You just graduated school. I don't fucking trust you. That means you love the process. That's the shit I'm talking about. You know, fun. It was for you for five hours a day on Twitter. You know, hopefully I am that this is going to be fun for you because if it's fun, you got business coming. If it's Gary told me to do it and you're doing it, but you hate it, it's going to die. |
| 4:58.0 | How important is it that my resume is all over the place? People don't like to jump because they think it hurts to resume crazy crazy. I'm trying to get so many kids out of this. Nobody gives a fuck if you were in a place in six months, especially when I ask you if I'm sitting here, you're like, it wasn't right for me. I have enough self awareness. The culture wasn't right. My boss's boss wasn't right. And I knew I could do better and I wanted to be an environment. You've won me over for leaving in six months, not I'm cynical to you. Resume jumping is some 1984 shit. So that's number one. And number two. |
