mountain skiers. Number five, Carrie Swenson. Originally from Boseman, Montana, Carrie Swenson was a

driven athlete who focused solely on excelling in her sport. After winning bronze in the first

Women's Biathlon World Championships in Chamonix, France in 1984, she then moved to big

sky on Montana, where she took a job at a guest ranch. The goal wasn't just to make money,

but also to have the perfect place to train, and Montana provided all that.

The Biathlon, if you don't know is a sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting,

and every day after work, she would train along one of the many mountain trails in the area.

On July 15, 1984, while on a training run in the Ulirees Lakes area,
