Summary

It's never easy when you've gotta pull a race entry (she says after doing it just last year for the London Marathon). Excited to be on the sidelines cheering next weekend in Brooklyn; talking about the "why" in today's 5-MINUTE FRIDAY, plus answering a skincare question from Ash in Virginia.

Hey everybody, Emily Abadi here, coming to you from the AG studio, you are listening

0:26.2

minute Friday from hurdle. We made it through another week, a full week for me at home,

0:34.2

mostly early bad times, a little bit of fun mixed in there. And I am prepping to be off on

0:40.6

another adventure, heading back to the west coast, no hurtler meetups there exclusively

0:46.6

for a lot of work, but excited to grab myself a little bit warmer temperatures, although this

0:52.0

week has been stunning in New York, and see myself some palm trees. For five minute Friday

0:58.7

this week, I want to talk to you guys about something that I have been, I don't know if navigating

1:04.9

as the right word because I feel really confident and happy, I don't know if happy is the right word

1:10.6

either, I am dealing, this is such a sexy word with plantar fasciitis in my heel. And basically what

1:17.2

plantar fasciitis is, if I'm going to get specific, it's inflammation of a thick band of tissue

bottom of your foot. And when you get inflammation, a lot of individuals feel pain in their heel. Now

1:37.7

I've been like dealing with a little bit of plantar fasciitis pain over the last few months,

1:44.9

but recently it's gotten to the point where it won't really bother me on my run, but after my run,

1:52.2

I'll be hobbling around. Like last weekend after I went on a 11 mile run with my friend Willie,

1:59.1

I went to brunch with my mom and I literally limped from my apartment to brunch and limped home

2:06.0

and was like so excited to put my foot in a bucket of ice water. So clearly some things needed to

2:13.6

shift. And I made the kind of frustrating decision, but right decision to not run the Brooklyn

2:21.2

half marathon next weekend. It's just not smart for me right now to go out and race 13 miles knowing

2:29.4

that afterward. I will not be walking super well. And it could do further damage. And that is not

2:37.8

what we want. I want to think long term. I want to think longevity. I want to fix

2:42.7

this issue ASAP. I've already spoken to my PT. We have a plan of attack. And my plan of attack is
