Summary

Last weekend, I went through absolutely everything in my apartment. By the end of weaving through every closet, corner, and nook, I set aside 10 bags of donations (which I brought to Goodwill and Housing Works) and felt a whole lot lighter. For today's episode, I'm talking you through that process, and sharing an important lesson that I was reminded of during the 7-hour work day.

Hey, Herdlers, Emily Abadi here here bringing you another episode of Five Minute Friday from Hurtle.

0:26.8

I had a good week and I feel like it's important to like stop and have some gratitude for a week that may not have been as productive as I hoped that it would be, but felt like it

0:39.9

had a ton of small wins in there. So I'm putting this into the world. If you two are feeling a

0:45.8

little stuck, but also finding some small gratitudes, you and I are on the same wavelength.

0:51.4

For Five Minute Friday this week, if you're new to this segment on the show

0:54.6

on Fridays, I kind of put out into the world a story from my past week or maybe just my past in

1:00.7

general and offer you a thought prompt to take you into the weekend to get those wheels turning

1:06.2

and then share with you some of my content picks, some of my highlights from the last seven days.

1:14.2

So this week, I am talking about The Purge. If you follow me on social media, I'm over at

Emily Abadi and Hurtle is over at Hurtle podcast as well, then you may have seen me doing a huge clean-out understatement of my apartment

1:32.8

last weekend. And that has been something that has been a long time coming. And it's also

1:38.5

something that I do to some extent like every other month. And I know what you're thinking.

1:44.7

You're probably like, how do you gain, garner, gather enough stuff in your home to be able

1:52.0

to like donate bags of things to Goodwill every month?

1:56.2

And you know what?

1:57.0

Sometimes I wonder this as well.

1:58.5

I'm like, how did I end up with all this stuff?

2:01.6

So I have a few explanations for this. Firstly, there's like the stuff that falls into the category of like every time I go to do an apartment clean out, I think to myself, you know what?

2:12.9

Like this is going to make the cut. I'm going to try wearing it more. Maybe I'll use it for X or Y or whatever.

2:20.4

So there's that stuff. And then there's the stuff that gets sent to me by different brands. Now,

2:26.6

I've definitely touched on this on the show before, but as a fitness journalist, I write about
