Hey, everybody, Emily Abadi here. You're listening to Five Minute Friday from Hurtle. What a week. I feel like I start every five minute Friday by saying, what a week. But this has been a good week for me. And I really feel like I needed a good week. I don't want this to be the subject of today's episode, but I have been making it a

0:41.6

point. And I try to do this most of the time, but very intentional over looking for the good

0:49.7

lately. I was candidly just struggling at the beginning of the year and I got to a point and this

0:57.0

often happens when we are in need of change and maybe aren't at a point yet where we want to

1:03.0

admit it. Staying where I was was more painful than making the change and so I decided to make

1:10.1

some changes and I decided to start some changes. And I decided to

1:12.0

start seeking the joy actively. I write about this in the weekly hurdle today. But noticing

1:18.7

where there's good around me and paying attention to that, being in the elevator and seeing two

1:23.8

cute snorting bulldogs on my way out for my run this morning. On the run this morning, seeing they were, I think there were tulips that were about to come out from under the ground, like the smallest peep of yellow coming up over the soil. Seeing a man that I had once, I was finishing a run and he was finishing on a run and he said, I'll race you to the corner. We did not know each other and we raced each other to the corner and we laughed about it and it was really

1:27.5

sweet and I laughed about it. And it was really sweet. And I saw

1:48.1

him on my run today. And he said, have a great run. And that was just so delightful. So I am paying

1:53.7

attention and seeking joy. And I find that when I do that, it comes back to me. I say it all

1:59.8

the time. Energy attracts like energy. And when I

2:03.2

choose to seek joy, then my thoughts are positive too. So as I'm on my run, I have this thought and

2:11.8

maybe it sounds a little woo-woo. But I just have this moment that I think, well, now is my chance to start over.

2:18.7

And I recognize that every second, every minute, you don't need to wait for a January 1st

2:23.2

or the first of any month or even a new day.

2:25.1

You can start over with whatever you are navigating right now, something that might be

2:29.0

frustrating you, something that you might feel caught up in.

2:32.2

Listen to me when I say that right now you can start fresh

2:35.7

if you choose to make that decision. And that decision, yes, I understand there might be some caveats.

2:42.3

I understand. But you can make that decision most of the time. And that feels really great.
