Hey, everybody, Emily Abadi here. You are listening to Five Minute Friday from Hurtle. What a week. Obviously, man, you can hear it in my voice. I have been nonstop this week. And I'm so happy to, albeit temporarily, be back in Brooklyn before heading down to D.C. to cap off a wild, wild seven days. It started in Boston. I then went to San Francisco and Cupertino to Apple Park. And then on Friday this afternoon, if you're listening to

0:58.2

this in real time, I'm heading down to D.C. to host a conversation for every woman's marathon.

1:04.2

We are premiering a documentary this weekend at the D.C. Film Fest. And if you're local to the area

1:10.0

and you want to come

1:10.9

run with us on Saturday, April 26th, the information is in the show notes. So let's got,

1:20.2

oh my goodness, I'm so discombobulated. I feel like my head is in all of these separate cities

1:26.1

simultaneously right now.

1:32.7

When I tell you, I did not want to do the run that I had to do or that was on my training plan on Thursday, that is the biggest understatement.

1:37.2

My body is tired.

1:38.2

I am tired.

1:39.1

But I knew that I, I didn't want to do it in the moment, but I knew my future self would be happy

1:46.1

if I did. And so I went downstairs in the hotel on Thursday morning and could not have been

1:55.1

more excited to see my buddy, Joan Bonoitte Samuelson. So for those of you who don't know Joni,

2:02.8

she is the first woman to ever win gold in the Olympic marathon. She ran the inaugural

2:11.0

woman's Olympic marathon in 1984 in Los Angeles. We met at the top of 2024 when I actually sat down with her for the show.

2:21.3

I'll link that episode in the show notes. And so since then, we have continuously run into each other all

2:27.5

around the world. We both ran Tokyo last year and then ran into each other again in Los Angeles and then again in New York and so many

2:37.9

times. So now we have this running joke that wherever I go, I will see Joni there. We actually

2:44.4

also saw one another at the top of the week in Boston. And so I did not know that Joni would also

2:50.6

be in town for Apple's Global

2:53.6

Closure Rings Day. She went to campus yesterday. I'm like trying to get my day straight here

3:00.7

to talk to employees. And so I was elated to see her in the lobby yesterday morning unexpectedly.
