Hey, everyone, Emily Abadi here. You are listening to Five Minute Friday from Hurtle. Wow, what a week. Since the last time I talked to you, I feel like I've been all over the place. I spent last Thursday in Connecticut. I went to Washington, D.C. on Friday.

0:42.0

I ran the cherry blossom 10 miler on Sunday. And when I tell you that Sunday was an elite day,

0:51.1

that is the biggest understatement in that I ran a race that I had been looking forward to

0:57.5

for some time. I accomplished my goal, which was to do this thing in sub-average pace of

1:04.9

seven minutes, 30 seconds. And then the Yukon women won the March Madness Tournament. So truly, like I said,

1:16.4

an elite day. I need to tell you a story about the race last weekend. Right before the start,

1:24.6

I went to use a porta potty. and I did so. And as I was getting ready to begin

1:33.9

the race, I'm in the corral and I realized that I must have dropped my license, which I always

1:40.7

tuck into my shorts pocket when I'm going out for a race and I'm traveling alone.

1:46.4

I tucked it in my shorts pocket. I go to check it before the race begins and it is not in there.

1:52.4

I dropped it. And it is the ultimate lesson in that moment of letting go of the things that you

1:58.8

cannot control. I have so much anxiety in this moment.

2:01.9

I am like, what happens if tomorrow they need my ID when I'm going to get on an airplane and I am

2:08.7

stuck in D.C. And I start spiraling. And then I do two things. The first thing I say to myself is

2:17.1

what's the worst that's going to happen? is what's the worst that's going to happen?

2:19.4

Okay, if the worst that's going to happen, truly the worst thing that could happen is that I'm not

2:23.4

allowed to get on a flight, which I believe that there are many systems in place where they can

2:28.4

verify who you are. If you don't happen to have your license on you, you just need to make sure you

2:32.9

have time at the airport.

2:39.6

But I digress. If the worst thing that's going to happen is that I have to ultimately rent a car and drive home, it's actually not that bad. That's the first thing that happens in that moment.

2:46.3

I tell that to myself. And then the next thing that I tell to myself is, Emily, you've got to let it go.

2:52.2

Because this is something right now that is so much bigger than you, that is so much beyond your
