Hi friends, we're here with Heidi King, the Deputy Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. NHTSA is working hard to put a stop to alcohol and drug impaired driving.

Heidi, as Labor Day near us, tell us more about NHTSA's efforts to keep people safe on the

roads.

We are launching a nationwide awareness and enforcement campaign to prevent impaired driving

over the Labor Day holiday.

From August 16th to September 2nd, there will be more police patrols and sobriety checkpoints

from coast to coast.

What about drug impaired driving?

Is that just as dangerous?

A number of drugs, legal and illegal, impair a person's ability to drive safely.

Remember, if you feel different, you drive different. And if you drive high, you can get a DUI.

What are you asking people to do? If someone has been drinking or taken any type of drug that makes you feel different, please don't drive.
