Everybody has their own favorite dinosaur, but Stegosaurus is definitely in the top five.

That's Roger Benson, the curator of dinosaur paleobiology at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.

And he's right.

If you look up the phrase most popular dinosaurs,

just about any search engine puts Stegosaurus at the top of the list of roughly 700 species

that have been discovered. A large, slow-moving dino, whose name in Greek means roof lizard,

the Stegosaurus is famous for having rows of kite-shaped plates

that run from its neck to its tail.
