Today like many people her age Dorothy Jean Tillman is attending prom as her best friend's date, but she isn't a high school student.

She actually earned her doctorate degree before she could even vote.

By the age of 14, Dorothy already had an associate's degree, a bachelor's, and her master's.

And the Chicago native successfully defended her dissertation a few months ago when she was only 17 years old.

She spoke at the University's College of Health Solutions Convocation earlier this month.

Flashback to the beginning during a world changing pandemic. I turned to my mom and said,

I think I want to pursue a doctorate degree. And so of course my mom and grandmother looked at me like,

what in the world, little girl? At the time, she said she was also juggling the launch of a science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics camp

startup to inspire underserved kids in Chicago and abroad to pursue careers in these fields. So safe to say Dorothy was busy.

But I explained I wanted to positively impact young people as it pertains to their mental health.
