You know, all of this new document dump has come down in Koeberger.

And when we first started covering this case, we remember November 13th, 2022.

And how for at least a week after those murders, they really didn't have much on this case.

And the media was already getting antsy.

It would maybe be a couple of weeks later before they started screaming that the FBI should take over this case,

that they had no confidence in the Moscow police.

However, homicide investigations take time.

And one of the, what we would say in the business,

the smoking gun piece of evidence was, you see it on the screen here in this

thumbnail the knife sheath with the button the button on the knife sheath had male DNA on it

and that DNA is what what led to the identity of Brian Coburg. In a much more convoluted way

than I'm saying it, they used investigative genetic genealogy because the DNA identified

from the button of the knife sheath was submitted to CODIS,

the combined DNA index system, which is run by the FBI, which has two categories of DNA.

Offender, that's convicted offenders, and forensic DNA.

And the sample they took from the button of the knife, the sheath, was in neither category of DNA encodice.

So they didn't know who this perpetrator was, but as they started looking at more evidence,

circumstantial evidence, they put it out rather quickly,

the white Hyundai Alantra. And that, they discovered, belonged to a student at Washington State
